Messaging and Reminders Consent
Last updated: 2 Nov 2026
Wefru tools such as Reminders, Leads, Billing and Appointment Booking let businesses keep in touch with their customers. This policy explains the rules that every business user must follow when sending messages to customers through, or using details taken from, Wefru. It forms part of our Terms and Conditions.
1. How messages are sent today
At present, reminders and notifications from Wefru are sent by email. If we add SMS or WhatsApp delivery in future, this policy will apply to those channels as well, along with any extra rules we publish at that time.
2. Get permission first
- You may message a customer only if you have a lawful reason and their permission, for example because they sent you an enquiry, booked an appointment, bought from you or clearly agreed to hear from you.
- Keep a record of how and when the customer gave permission, and share it with us if we ask.
- An enquiry gives permission to reply to that enquiry. It does not by itself give permission to send repeated promotional messages.
- Do not add people to your reminders or message lists from purchased, copied or scraped contact lists.
3. Types of messages
- Service messages: appointment confirmations, invoice copies, payment reminders, order updates and replies to enquiries. These must be related to a service the customer has asked for.
- Promotional messages: offers, discounts and new product announcements. These need the customer's clear consent and must be easy to stop.
4. Follow TRAI and DND rules
- If you send SMS or make calls to customers, follow the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations of TRAI, including registration on the DLT platform where required, use of approved headers and templates, and respect for customers' DND (Do Not Disturb) preferences on the National Customer Preference Register.
- Do not send promotional messages or make promotional calls to numbers registered for DND for that category, unless the customer has given you explicit consent that is valid under the regulations.
- Send promotional messages only at reasonable times permitted by the regulations.
5. Follow WhatsApp policies
- Message customers on WhatsApp only if they have given you their number and agreed to be contacted on WhatsApp.
- Follow the WhatsApp Business Terms, WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policy.
- Do not send bulk unsolicited messages, and stop messaging anyone who blocks you or asks you to stop.
6. Email rules
- Use a true sender name and a subject that matches the content.
- Do not send spam, chain mails or misleading content.
7. Customers can opt out at any time
If you are a customer and do not want messages from a business on Wefru, you can:
- tell the business directly that you want to stop receiving messages;
- use the unsubscribe link in the email, where one is available, or reply STOP where that option is given;
- block the sender on WhatsApp or your phone;
- write to us at [email protected] or raise a complaint under our Grievance Redressal policy, giving the business name and the message you received.
Businesses must honour opt-out requests promptly and must not message that customer again for the same purpose unless the customer agrees again.
8. Content of messages
Messages must be truthful and must not contain anything prohibited under our Community and Content Guidelines. Do not ask customers for passwords, OTPs, card details or UPI PINs.
9. Responsibility and enforcement
- The business sending a message is responsible for its content, its recipients and compliance with the law.
- Reminders and messages are delivered on a best-effort basis, as explained in our Terms and Conditions.
- If we receive complaints or find misuse, we may limit or switch off messaging features, remove content, or suspend the account.
