Biography of Tulsidas:
There is no unanimity among scholars regarding the birth of the famous poet of Saguna Bhakti sect, Goswami Tulsidas. An attempt has been made to prove his date and place of birth by considering texts like Gosai Charita, Tulsi Prakash, Gautam Chandrika, Ghat Ramayana etc. as the basis. According to Shivsingh Sengar and Ramgulam Dwivedi, Ramnaresh Tripathi and Dr. Ramdutt Bhardwaj, his birthplace is 'Soro'. Popularly, Tulsidas is believed to have been born in 1532 AD in Rajapur village of Chitrakoot district.
His father's name was Atmaram Dubey and mother's name was Hulsi. His childhood name was Ram Bola. Tulsidas's childhood was full of struggle. When his parents got separated in the early years of his life, Baba Narharidas brought him up and also imparted the education of knowledge and devotion. Goswami Tulsidas was married to Ratnavali. It is believed that Ratnavali's rebuke created a feeling of renunciation and devotion in his mind, after which he acquired the knowledge of Ved Vedanga in Kashi. Most of his life was spent in Kashi, Ayodhya and Chitrakoot. Goswami Tulsidas died in 1623 AD.
He started writing his famous book Ramcharitmanas in 1574 AD. Which was completed in 2 years and 7 months by Ram. By coordinating Shakti Seal and Beauty, Tulsi gave him Maryada Purushottam without Doha. Ramcharitmanas written in Chaupai stanza is the next popular book. Apart from Ramcharitmanas, he also wrote books like Janaki Mangal, Parvati Mangal, Ramlala-Nahchhu, Vairagya Sandipani, Ramagya Prashnavali, Barvai Ramayana, Dohavali, Kavitavali, Geetavali, Krishna Geetavali and Vinay Patrika etc. His devotional and rosy speech was considered auspicious like no other. Today Goswami ji's Ramcharitmanas is present in every house ranging from king to king. Tulsidas composed his poetry in couplet-chaupai-saivaya verses.
