महिला शिक्षा का समर्थन किया इन्हीं के प्रयासों से ब्रिटिश सरकार ने 1856 ईस्वी में विधवा पुनर्विवाह अधिनियम पारित किया जिससे विधवाओं के पुनर्विवाह को कानूनी मान्यता मिली|
